Ray White Malan + Co

By Tiger Malan

New year, new name for leading real estate agency.

There’s a new name on the Gold Coast real estate landscape – literally – with Ray White Burleigh Group rebranding as Ray White Malan + Co.

The change signifies a changing of the guard at the family owned business with founder and patriarch Larry Malan formally handing over the reins to son, Tiger, who’s been group CEO for the past three years.

The rebrand comes with a new brown colour scheme; though the agency will maintain a strong association with Ray White using their nationwide databases. The group will also move into shiny new digs at Broadbeach with their Miami HQ earmarked for a childcare centre in the future.

“It’s very much a customer-led change, to be honest,” Tiger smiles.

“We’re very active in the Burleigh area, and that’ll always be our roots, but we wanted to show people that we’re not just about Burleigh, but the whole Gold Coast. “Right now, we’re helping sellers as far north as Sanctuary Cove and as far south as Kingscliff and everywhere in between.

“We’re very proud to be a family owned business, hence the name Malan + Co.

“Mum (Teresa) and Dad built this agency from the ground up, and I know a lot of people on the Coast are incredibly grateful to them for helping them get into their first homes, or upsize when they started a family. “What’s in it for buyers and sellers? Malan + Co is now the most sophisticated real estate agency on the Coast, so they get the best service and most importantly, the best results.”

Larry and Teresa migrated to Australia in 1995 from South Africa with their three young boys, Jared, Tiger and Conner. Larry originally worked as a sales agent himself for Chris Couper & Associates before founding the first incarnation of RWBG which was the independent agency Location Location at Broadbeach. He and Teresa then bought Ray White Broadbeach in 2011 from receivership, acquiring Ray White Mermaid Waters and Ray White Mermaid Beach along the way. The group was then consolidated in 2022 into Ray White Burleigh Group.

“It’s just time,” Larry says of the leadership change.

“What’s always been important to me as a father and a business owner is honesty and integrity, which isn’t always a facet in real estate, so Teresa and I are immensely proud of our boys, and everyone who works at Malan + Co for keeping true to that value.

“I admit, it’s a bit strange seeing my name on the banner (rather than Ray White Burleigh Group), but what it actually says is ‘family’ and that’s what this is about for me.

“I’m looking forward to a few other projects in the future, including the childcare centre.”

Altogether, there’s now 113 people working at Malan + Co, including 47 agents.

The new Broadbeach office is 740 square metres, and opens on January 24.
